>"Clipper Wind" Wins Award from Aviation Week & Space Technology
The largest aviation publication in the world, Aviation Week & Space Technology has awarded "Clipper Wind" by Steve Tack 3rd place honors in the Commercial Aviation category. "Clipper Wind" shows two Boeing Model 314 Pacific Clippers, one on approach and one taking off at Honolulu about 1939. The painting is currently on display at the Canadian Aviation Museum in Ontario, Canada as part of an exhibition titled, "Art Flight: Open Skies."

Grandson and protege of legendary aviation artist R.G. Smith and possessed by a love of aircraft at an early age, Tack studied under his grandfather. Countless hours of hard work and critique has resulted in his own style. Tack is group leader for airborne photography at the Naval Air Warfare Center, Pt. Mugu, Calif. He has created oil paintings for more than 50 air shows in the U.S. and Canada.

>New Commission from the Association of Naval Aviation
Steve is currently working on a new commission for the Nevada chapter of the Association of Naval Aviation. With a working title of "From the Desert to the Sea", Steve is creating an oversized painting depicting Nevada's contribution to the Navy featuring artful representations of the USS Nevada battleship, the newer submarine in use, and more. The image from this yet untitled work is planned to be used as a recruitment poster.

>A Special Tribute
At this year's Pt. Mugu Air Show, Steve not only lost a colleague, but one of his dearest friends with the passing of Cmdr. Michael "Storm" Norman. Steve will be creating a special painting to commemorate Mike's love of aviation that is scheduled to issued as a limited edition run of only 500 lithographs. All proceeds from the sale of the litho will be donated to the Michael Todd Norman Memorial Fund which directly benefits the surviving members of Mike's family. >Click here for complete donation information.

>Steve Tack Tapped to Paint Official Artwork for the 2003 Cherry Pt Airshows
Selected from a prestigious group of leading aviation artists, Steve Tack has been commissioned by MCAS Cherry Point to create the official artwork for the 2003 Cherry Point Airshow.

>NAS Point Mugu Continues the Tradition
Once again, Steve Tack has been selected to create the official artwork to commemorate the 2001 NAS Point Mugu Air Show in Camarillo, California. The world-famous Thunderbirds are currently scheduled to appear at the April 7th event.

> Sculpture Commission
MCAS Yuma commissioned Steve to create a free-form metal sculpture. Breaking new ground and expanding his artistic talents to this new medium proved to be an enjoyable experience for Steve as he developed a 8 ft. x 4 ft. impressionistic mixed media sculpture depicting airplanes, mountain ranges and unique perspective of the landscape using Naval Bronze as well as brass as the basis for this artistic interpretation. >Click here to see
